About

I am an artist/cartoonist/painter with a deep appreciation for things absurd, moving, sometimes tragic, sometimes hilarious. I also enjoy sketching people, cats, and everyday things. Actually, my happy place is sitting in a grove of trees, or some beautiful landscape, and sketching what surrounds me ..with love and deep appreciation. It centers my otherwise racing mind from the projects I’m working on and all the crazy news in the world.

I have worked as an illustrator in advertising, editorial, and the healthcare sectors. As a painter I’ve exhibited in solo and group shows across the country. As a muralist I’ve messed with more than a few walls, starting long ago with my mother’s living room. For seven years I penned a weekly comic strip. My single panel cartoons are currently carried in Funny Times and Cartoon Movement.

Over the years I’ve created a series of little cartoon art paperbacks that are quirky and occasionally meaningful—about art, birth, life, philosophy, politics, cats, lousy nutrition, road trips, aging, and detours.

Plus, they're little. Seriously. You can fit them in your pocket.

For the past 23 years I dedicated more than half of my waking hours to mentoring young artists. I co-founded Youth Arts Collective with my wife Marcia Perry. YAC is a nonprofit, inclusive, after-school, sanctuary, and mentored art studio for high school and college artists. It’s a successful artistic and cultural experiment which is still going strong. We have recently passed the baton on to the new generation, and they are doing splendidly. And we still get to mentor there.

Welcome to my website and the three-ring circus that is my brain. Cartoons, sketches, paintings, books, prints, my blog… and soon, some interactive projects that the audience gets to help me with.
